Esk Valley View
This was taken at Muncaster Castle, which is a historic haunted castle and a still lived in family home and is just outside of Ravenglass in Cumbria. The Castle believed to be standing on Roman remains, is a key part of the regions history. In 1464 Sir John Pennington gave shelter to Henry V1, wandering around after the battle of Hexham. Many years later in 1783, John, Lord Muncaster erected the tower known as Chapels to commemorate the place where the fugitive King was supposed to have been found by the shepherds. The legend tells how Holy King Harry on his departure left his drinking bowl behind in gratitude, saying that " as long as it should remain quite whole and unbroken the Penningtons would live and thrive in the place" Today the bowl is still intact and known as the "Luck of Muncaster". The views are over the Esk Valley & Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. At Muncaster Castle they have an Owl and Hawk Centre, & Owl display, walks & gardens.

Helen this has to be one of, if not the best shot, I've seen from your good self.
I've opened it up full size and just sat and let my eyes wander around this gorgeous vista. From the canon and seat through the different colours of the trees then along the Esk Valley to the fells and mountains of The Lake District in the far distance, excellent work, luv it.
AND, interesting notes too, thanks.
