When the boat comes in
|
I always find time to stop at the Ashness Bridge landing stage on Derwentwater. The view across to the Cat Bells and Maiden Moor always appeals and each time the view is slightly different. This time, though, I's thought I'd feature one of the launches that provide easy access from their base in Keswick to six or 7 landing stages around the lake. There's two routes; one clockwise and the other anticlockwise so you never have to wait too long to catch a launch (unless you turn up on a Monday at this time of year; they only operate weekends currently!). When this was taken, though, they were running a daily service and were busy as can be seen.
I've seen this landing stage under water so only the piles were visible. I've also seen the other extreme where there's not been enough water to allow the launch to get to the landing stage. the former is far more common, though!
