Redshank
I was fortunate to be able to capture on camera this lovely little wading bird as normally it is always out of my lens range.

The Redshank is an abundant and widespread wading bird on coasts and of course found in Nature reserves such as above.

I am still saving up for that 800mm lens.

Great image - not seen one of these live before well done

Well Arnie what do you want an 800mm lens for when you are producing cracking shots like this with a 400mm, must have tooo much money me thinks (Anyway if you get an 800 chuck the old one at me please)
A pleasing composition it is but, OMHO of course, I would sacrifice some space on the left and add it on the right, just seems a tad tight there. But only being picky Arnie, you know me
Very well done sir, like it loads.

Thanks guys.
George your correct in what you say about the crop, but a teal's b*m got in the way!
George  [Mar 09, 2010 at 05:01 PM]
OK Arnie, thanks for the explanation, but you could always clone some in

400mm? Blimey, who says size doesn't matter? Having suffered last week week with a 3000mm, I can imagine your frustrations although none of this comes through here; lots of detail in the bird; it seems to have a very determined look on its face. It is a b*mmer when things get in the way of your preferred shot but George's suggestion at cloning in some space is good. Did you think about flipping this so the bird was facing the other way?
Annie  [Mar 09, 2010 at 05:54 PM]
Alan, yes I did flip the shot and really could not make up my mind in which way it should face. Will take on board all suggestions and re-post. 3000mm Alan am I missing out on something!

Very good composition flipping the image would have the bird coming into the image.

A lovely image of the bird Annie and good composition too. A very nice image, well done.

I'm a bit late here Annie so I can but nod in agreement with esteemed colleagues, well done indeed. You will have to forgive Alan - he's always saying his is bigger than anyone else's

Another late one here,as it look's like the bird is walking, the space to the left gives it somewhere to go.
this is just imho. sorry forgot to say i like the shot

to Keith! Yes, of course, I mean 300mm!!
